What We Do & How We Do It

Every programme we run is designed around the real needs of Newport's BAME communities — evidence-led, community-shaped, and delivered with dignity and care.

Helping young people build confidence, leadership and brighter futures.
Who this is for: Young people aged 11–25 from BAME backgrounds in Newport and surrounding areas.

Programme 04

Food Bank & Community Outreach

Weekly food provision, culturally appropriate essentials and active community engagement.
Who this is for: Low-income individuals and families across Newport, particularly BAME households facing food insecurity.
The cost-of-living crisis has hit Newport's BAME households particularly hard. Our weekly food bank operates every Wednesday, providing families with essential groceries, fresh produce, household supplies and culturally appropriate foods — ensuring that help is available consistently and with dignity.
Beyond food provision, our Community Outreach work takes us into local neighbourhoods, community centres and city spaces to connect with individuals who may not yet know support exists. We build trust, listen to local needs and bring people together — reducing isolation and fostering a stronger sense of belonging across Newport.
  • What's Included
  • Weekly food bank every Wednesday — open to low-income households
  • Promotion and engagement at Newport Library and local hubs
  • Culturally appropriate food parcels and fresh produce
  • Peer support and relationship-building during sessions
  • Essential household supplies and hygiene items
  • Referrals to wellbeing, employability and support programmes
  • Community outreach visits to estates, centres and public spaces

Bountiful Bridges does not work in isolation. We believe that lasting change requires collaboration — between charities, statutory bodies, businesses and communities. Our Partnerships programme is about building the right relationships to extend our reach, share expertise and create greater collective impact.

  • What's Included
  • Strategic partnerships with Newport City Council

  • Funded collaboration with BAWSO and specialist VAME organisations
